Key Projects.

Purple Line Light Rail Extension Public Private Partnership, Maryland Transit Administration:  CST provided traffic and utility engineering services for this this one-of-a-kind project to construct 16.2 miles of light rail that will extend from Bethesda to New Carrollton, MD. Services included performing independent reviews of various temporary and permanent traffic signal designs and traffic analysis studies, and refining temporary and permanent traffic signal designs, signing and pavement marking designs, and roadway and parking lot lighting designs for roughly half of the at-grade project alignment. Utility engineering services included providing water main and sewer relocation design services for Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) facilities in four design packages. CST’s team members also provided structural design and CADD support services for prestressed concrete box girder bridges, steel box girder bridges, concrete arch underpasses on cast-in-place foundations, box culverts, retaining walls, mechanically stabilized earth walls, noise walls, and grade beams.

Comprehensive Conduit Facilities Management Services, Baltimore City Department of Transportation: CST provided engineering and construction management services for various conduit locations throughout the City. Work efforts included the performance of occupancy and structural inspections for manholes and construction inspection and management services for conduit and manhole installation. This included emergency manhole inspections and structural and maintenance of traffic design services in relation to manhole and conduit repairs. In addition, CST provided a GIS technician and resident engineer to work on-site for the City. The technician provided quality control reviews of field inspection and blowdowns and was responsible for recording the information in the City’s network and ArcGIS. The resident engineer assisted in troubleshooting the installation of conduits and manholes.

Bridge Safety Inspections, Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT): CST performed visual and hands-on condition inspections and evaluations of 24 structures in accordance with National Bridge Inspection standards and DelDOT standards. Team members were responsible for identifying fracture critical members, reviewing plans to identify fatigue prone details, obtaining lane closure permits, coordinating maintenance of traffic setups, devices, and access equipment and preparing the written reports using AASHTOWARE BrM software.

General Architecture and Engineering (GAEC) Services Facilities IDIQ, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA): CST currently serves as a as subconsultant on this contract to provide professional engineering services for a wide variety of new design and construction related tasks, and maintenance, repair and renovation tasks. Work efforts have included the inspection of WMATA facilities ranging from 12 to 150 spans and consist of a variety of superstructure and substructure configurations. CST is also responsible for preparing inspection reports for the inspected structures and coordinating maintenance of traffic (MOT) permits for all inspections performed in Maryland for the Joint Venture team.
